BATON ROUGE — Grammy award-winning artist PJ Morton and acclaimed painter and muralist Christopher P. Turner will be featured on Saturday, May 22 during SOUL REFINED’s Culture Art. Soul Music., which will blend the best of art and music under one roof. SOUL REFINED is presenting a new stream of upscale entertainment for urban professionals that plans to showcase contemporary national artists in Baton Rouge and other metropolitan areas nationwide.
New Orleans native PJ Morton will perform his self described “soulful pop” music during the art showcase. Morton has been playing the piano since the age of eight and at 15 had released his first song with the Gospel group, Men of Standard. He is a multi-talented musician whose work has garnered many accolades including the Grammy, Dove and Stellar awards. Now on his fifth album release, Walk Alone, Morton will share his heart, stories and experiences through songs such as “Love You More” and “The One.”
Visual artist and professional muralist Christopher P. Turner has been painting since childhood. Though Turner has been painting professionally since 2009, his work has already earned him success and praise. Turner is exclusive artist for Posh Chic Hair Salon, Rue Cou Cou Gallery and The Main Artery, and a host of other shows and events in Baton Rouge, including live painting sessions during a Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra concert and several SOUL REFINED concerts. Tuner works primarily in acrylics with mixed media elements. With its vibrant colors, rich textures, and lively images, his fun yet sophisticated art reflects his own heartfelt passion for the arts and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
Along with PJ Morton and Christopher P. Tuner, the music and art event will also feature soulful singer Britten. Additionally, the art show and concert event will introduce up-and-coming singer Andie.
Tickets for the show, which will be held at Brunner Gallery at the Shaw Center, located on Lafayette Street in downtown Baton Rouge cost $20 in advance and $35 the day of the show. Individual VIP Tickets are $50 and include PJ Morton’s newest CD, Walk Alone, and a 16 x 20 Limited Edition Art Piece by Christopher P. Turner.
