BATON ROUGE—Six-time Grammy nominated crooner Anthony Hamilton will headline the SOUL REFINED Concert Series’ next musical showcase held at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 18 at the Baton Rouge River Center. Also performing live will be comedian J.J. Williamson and host comedian Ced Delaney. To add to the talented mix, the SOUL REFINED Concert Series will also feature a surprise opening music act.
After two highly successful albums Comin’ From Where I’m From (2003) and Ain’t Nobody Worryin’ (2005), Anthony Hamilton, whose unique voice draws its soulful force and story-telling inspiration from such pioneers as Bill Withers, Bobby Womack, Al Green, Johnny Guitar Watson and Marvin Gaye, brings his soul-steeped vocals to his third official studio album The Point of it All. Hamilton promises to wow his fans with the soulful melodies from each of the releases, including the popular tunes, “Charlene” and “Can’t Let Go.”
J.J. Williamson has tickled funny bones by touring with comedy greats such as Chris Tucker, D.L. Hughley, Rickey Smiley and Bruce Bruce. Most notably, he has rocked comedy shows across the nation touring with Cedric the Entertainer. Clean-comedian Ced Delaney has been seen on BET’s popular “Comic View.” Delaney is no stranger to hosting events; he has hosted television network UPN’s Sunday movie showcase, as well as the weekly televised “SWACtacular” which covers all events in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Both funnymen are sure to make the SOUL REFINED audience laugh with their own unique blends of humor.
The celebrated SOUL REFINED Concert Series is a new stream of upscale entertainment for urban professionals that plans to showcase contemporary national artists in Baton Rouge and other metropolitan areas nationwide. Already, the SOUL REFINED has presented major musical acts such as Chrisette Michele, Mint Condition, Raheem DeVaughn and P.J. Morton. Anthony Hamilton’s performance will mark the brand’s fourth musical event in 2010.
