Get the New Year started right with Erykah Badu and Soul Refined

BATON ROUGE – Start your New Year off right with The Return of Soul featuring Erykah Badu. Also performing as part of The Return of Soul event is singer/song-writer Bilal. The groove starts at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7 at the Baton Rouge River Center Theater.

From the event brand that’s rocked audiences throughout 2010 with events showcasing the likes of Anthony Hamilton, Monica, Kevin Hart and more, SOUL REFINED is now bringing concert-goers the talents of the Grammy-award winning Erykah Badu. For 14 years, Badu, oftentimes dubbed the “Queen of Neo Soul,” has weaved jazz, hip-hop, soul, and a myriad of other sounds and influences into her music. She is sure to please the audience with hits such as “Window Seat,” “Honey,” “Love of my Life,” and the ever-popular hit “Tyrone.” From Baduizm to New Amerykah Part II: Return of the Ankh, the soul-singing Badu is sure to wow the crowd.

Soulful crooner Bilal will sway the audience with popular tunes, such as “Soul Sista” and “Fast Lane.” Since his debut solo album, 1st Born Second, to his most recent album, Airtight’s Revenge, Bilal has garnered critical acclaim and a massive following of soul music lovers. Also performing is the Baton Rouge-based cover band, Juke Joint Band, who will open for the show.
