Mint Condition, U4RIA to perform March 4 at Lyceum in Baton Rouge

By March 4, 2010 No Comments

Crowd pleasers and R&B crooners Mint Condition, along with Baton Rouge-based band U4RIA and the Juke Joint Band, will perform in concert on March 4 at the Lyceum Ballroom in downtown Baton Rouge, as part of the next installation in the Soul Refined Concert Series. The Soul Refined Concert Series is a new stream of upscale urban entertainment that plans to showcase contemporary national and local artists in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area.

Winners of the Soul Tracks’ 2008 Readers Choice Award for Album of the Year/Best Duo Group, Mint Condition will wow the audience with their soulful and, at times, rock and funk inspired jazz melodies. Hit singles, “Pretty Brown Eyes,” “What Kind of Man Would I Be,” and “U Send Me Swinging” are sure to be heard during the March 4 installation of the Soul Refined Concert Series. After giving fans five successful studio albums, over a dozen hit singles, multiple world tours and gearing up to release a sixth album, the band has consistently produced high-quality music, keeping itself in the form of the group’s namesake, Mint Condition.

Known as the “most sought after band in the South,” U4ria is made up of successful business professionals who know their way around the chromatic scale, playing a mixture of upbeat ballads to old-school rhythm and blues. The eclectic cover band has opened for rap phenomenon Akon, played at the New Orleans Gentilly Festival and showcased their musical prowess at several area night clubs and venues.

The Juke Joint Band is diverse group of Baton Rouge musicians, vocalists, poets and emcees. The up-and-coming group has been featured at The Lyceum and hotspot The Caterie.

U4ria bass player, Tha Hip Hop Doc, blends his musical ability and work as a physician to deliver healthful messages to students across the state and nation. He has written a comic book series on health, produced two health-related music projects for teens and will help the Louisiana Highway and Safety Commission educate teens on the dangers on underage drinking and driving. As part of the Soul Refined Concert Series, the musicians will visit a local university to discuss the music industry.
