ENTREPRENEUR CENTER PITCH CONTEST WINNER LAUNCHES ONE-OF-A-KIND INVENTION FOR ELDERLY AND DISABLED
Steady Enterprises, LLC is launching the first-ever rollator carrier for automobiles. The handmade device, the Steady Rollator Carrier™, is the brainchild of Sherry Costanza Steady, serial entrepreneur and recent Entrepreneur Center pitch contest winner.
NASHVILLE (August 27, 2015) – Sherry Costanza Steady, a recent Entrepreneur Center pitch contest winner, is introducing the first-ever automobile carrier for certain walkers.
Called the Steady Rollator Carrier ™, the product is the only one of its kind in the marketplace, and is designed to make traveling with a rollator walker, or a walker that has wheels in order to roll, much easier.
The handmade carrier can be attached to the back of a vehicle to allow for easy transportation of a rollator walker. This allows caretakers, walker users and others to have full use of the interior space of a vehicle as the walkers often take up considerable room on the inside of a car and trunk.
Steady, who won the Nashville Entrepreneur Center’s local pitch contest in 2014 for her invention, knows what it is like to launch a new business. She cut her teeth as an entrepreneur more than 30 years ago when she launched a chain of popular dress shops that styled some of Music City’s royalty. Now, after successful stints in retail, media and film, the serial entrepreneur is spearheading this new endeavor – one that holds a special place in her heart.
Steady, who serves as chief executive officer and founder of Steady Enterprises, LLC, conceptualized the idea for the innovative carrier from her experiences with her aging parents. Steady’s mother relied heavily on a Rollator, or walker, for more than a decade. Since her mother relied on the walker each time she travelled, it had to be transported everywhere. However, as her father aged, lifting the walker in and out of the trunk of their car became difficult. She knew there had to be a better way for active individuals to get around – even with the use of a walker.
And so the Steady Rollator Carrier™ was born.
HOW IT WORKS
The wheels of the walkers rest firmly in custom-designed, adjustable cradles on the carrier’s frame, so that the walker is not in the way of groceries, trunk space or people while traveling. The positioning of the carrier ensures that the walker is also out of the way of the taillights and turn signals. When the carrier is not in use, its vertical arms can be collapsed, allowing for easy access to the trunk or hatch back area. In addition, the frame allows users to easily adjust for height. The carrier fits into a 1.25 receiver.
